We have conducted comprehensive research and literature reviews on the species to deepen our understanding of the Bengal florican. Our efforts include the development of an in-depth and interactive map detailing its distribution across its entire range.
Our recognition of the collaborative nature of effective conservation efforts is evident in our initiative. We have produced conservation documentaries in several languages, including Nepali, Maithili, Hindi, and Cambodian. These documentaries aim to raise awareness and educate local communities about the importance of protecting the Bengal florican. Currently, we are working on an expanded documentary featuring insights from conservationists across Nepal, India, and Cambodia.
The conservation workshop targeted eighth-grade students, tracking their progress with pre- and post-event questionnaires. It included a presentation on wildlife, laws, bird identification (focusing on the Bengal Florican), birds’ roles in ecosystems, and habitat preservation. A drawing competition with a prize and a lesson on creating bird checklists were also held. Selected bio-monitors received a bird field guide, “Birds of Nepal” poster, conservation bookmarks, and a diary. These students will participate in school birding activities, compile checklists, and report findings to local NGOs, enhancing Bengal Florican conservation efforts
